About the conference
Medical practices and medical technology evoke questions that are crucial to examine from a gender perspective. This involves research that examines beliefs and norms about sex, gender and bodily normality that are maintained, questioned and/or strengthened in medical practices, in health prevention and in everyday life as well as research on sexuality, reproductive health and family-making – as some examples. These issues lay at the heart of this first Gender and Health conference.
The conference consists of the following five major themes with presentations: i) Body and sex as analytic concepts, ii) Pain, suffering and gender, iii) Health prevention, iv) Sex, surgery and ethics and v) Family-making.
